Although she didn’t qualify for the semi-finals the the debut of this Cape Verdean at the Olympics in London was positive and filled the Cape Verdean pride. Lidiane Lopes, just 17 years, ran the 100 meters in 12.72 seconds, just over a second slower than first place with a time of 11.60 seconds.
