Lidiane Lopes runs 100 meters in 12.72 seconds

Cape Verdean olympic athlete Lidiane Lopes from Sal Island rand the 100 meters in 12.72 seconds, her fastest personal time, coming fourth in her heat.

Although she didn’t qualify for the semi-finals the the debut of this Cape Verdean at the Olympics in London was positive and filled the Cape Verdean pride. Lidiane Lopes, just 17 years, ran the 100 meters in 12.72 seconds, just over a second slower than first place with a time of 11.60 seconds.
Lidiane proved that anything is possible with hard training, dedication and commitment. She ran alongside athletes with many years of experience on the track, as she only started training on the track for three months. It is a sign that the future is promising, and she will now prepare for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
